Our Story

Message from the Chief Host

It started with a news article in 2020. The story read on the impending financial doom Kenyan schools faced, as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. What started out as a desire to financially support learning institutions grew into a movement that challenges inequalities and ignites a culture of like-minded individuals, striving to make an impact in their alma maters and the broader Kenyan community.

When considering alumni, we tend to primarily associate them with fundraising. But alumni represent an untapped resource that goes far beyond what’s in their pocket – they represent hope. In a world plagued by a global pandemic, political turmoil, and rising cost of living, hope is a rare and valuable commodity. And yet, this is what the Alumnus Challenge ultimately seeks to offer to those who may need it most in the education sector.

To do so, we believe that sports offer one of the greatest mediums to spread our message. It is not only an engaging activity that bridges diverse cultures and backgrounds, but it also invites the alumni to take pride in battling for the chance to win awards for their alma mater.

As Alumnus Challenge, we have a dream of a Kenyan alumni movement made of a mosaic representation of all 47 counties, all working towards equal access to quality education. We believe this dream is not only possible, but that it holds great potential for sustainability, rippling through society to tangibly impact students, teachers, schools, families, and the communities surrounding them.

We invite you to join us in fighting for this dream.
